I am "breaking" the MIT App Inventor program for my class project. Instead of using it to create functional apps, I am using the blocks to create a purely visual work of art.
I first went through the different block options on MIT App Inventor to establish my "color palette."
Here's a picture of all the available block categories. |
I chose the above ones to work with, as they are the ones I used to use most in app creation. |
Next, I decided on the content of the visual piece of work. I wanted to play off of the idea of the mobile app, and phones in general. I decided to create an image of a vintage candlestick-style phone.
An example of a candlestick phone. |
To give myself a "guide" for placing the blocks to make this image, I photoshopped an image of the vintage phone in the colors of the blocks from above.
I decided to place the image in a simple illustration of an android phone to connect it back to the idea of MIT App Inventor, and the fact that it only works on android phones.
